Everything your pet needs to stay healthy.

Our wellness services cover the full picture of preventive care. One visit, done right, without the wait for a traditional vet appointment weeks from now.

Wellness exams

Annual head-to-tail physical exams for dogs and cats. We check eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, skin, and abdomen — and review your pet's history and lifestyle. Early detection starts here.

Core vaccinations

Protection against the most common and dangerous diseases. Core vaccines for dogs include rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus. For cats, rabies, panleukopenia, herpesvirus, and calicivirus.

Lifestyle vaccinations

Vaccines tailored to your pet's specific exposure risks. Bordetella, Lyme, leptospirosis, canine influenza, and feline leukemia based on where your pet goes and how they live.

Heartworm testing and prevention

Florida's warm climate makes heartworm a year-round concern. We test and prescribe monthly prevention to keep your dog or cat protected every season.

Flea and tick prevention

Fleas and ticks are active all year in St. Petersburg. We recommend and prescribe the right prevention products for your pet's size, lifestyle, and health history.

Parasite testing and lab work

Fecal tests for intestinal parasites, bloodwork panels, and urinalysis. Routine screening catches problems early, before they become serious.

Prescription refills

Need a refill on your pet's ongoing medications or prevention products? We can handle that during your wellness visit — no separate appointment needed.

Nutrition and lifestyle guidance

From weight management to senior pet care, our team provides practical advice on diet, exercise, and keeping your pet healthy between visits.

Florida's climate means parasites are active year-round. We make it easy to stay on top of prevention without scheduling weeks in advance.

Prevention is the best medicine

Catching problems early keeps your pet healthier, longer.

Most health issues are silent at first.

Pets are good at hiding discomfort. By the time symptoms are obvious, conditions that were easy to treat have often progressed. A yearly wellness exam is the single best way to catch problems before they become expensive or serious.

Weight and body condition — catching gradual changes that owners often miss at home.

Dental disease — the most common condition in adult pets and almost entirely preventable.

Heart and organ health — early signs heard with a stethoscope long before symptoms appear.

Skin and coat changes — early indicators of allergies, parasites, or hormonal issues.

Vaccine status — keeping protection current without over-vaccinating.

Happy dog and owner in St. Petersburg

St. Pete has its own set of pet health risks.

Florida's heat and humidity create a year-round environment for parasites and seasonal allergens that pet owners in colder climates simply do not deal with. Prevention here is not optional.

Heartworm

Mosquitoes carry heartworm larvae and are active all year in Florida. Monthly prevention is critical for both dogs and cats.

Fleas and ticks

No true winter means fleas and ticks never fully die off. Year-round prevention is the standard, not the exception.

Intestinal parasites

Warm soil and outdoor environments mean hookworm, roundworm, and other parasites are common. Annual fecal testing matters.

Seasonal allergies

Pollen and environmental allergens peak multiple times a year in St. Pete. Skin and coat checks during exams catch early signs.

Wellness care FAQs.

Everything you need to know before your pet's visit.

Do I need an appointment for a wellness exam?

No appointment is required. You can walk in during our open hours and we will see your pet same-day. We do recommend saving your spot online through WaitWell before you arrive so you can skip the waiting room and come in when it is your turn.

How often should my pet have a wellness exam?

Once a year is the standard recommendation for most adult dogs and cats. Senior pets over seven years old benefit from exams every six months, since health changes faster as they age. Puppies and kittens need more frequent visits during their first year for vaccines and developmental checks.

Which vaccines does my pet actually need?

It depends on your pet's species, age, and lifestyle. Core vaccines are recommended for every dog and cat regardless of lifestyle. Lifestyle vaccines like Bordetella, Lyme, or feline leukemia are recommended based on exposure risk. Our team will review your pet's history and make specific recommendations during the exam.

Does my indoor cat need heartworm prevention?

Yes. In Florida, mosquitoes get indoors easily and heartworm has been diagnosed in cats that never go outside. Prevention for cats is also important because there is no approved treatment for feline heartworm disease — only prevention. We recommend year-round prevention for all cats in the St. Petersburg area.

Can I get a prescription refill at the same visit?

Yes. If your pet is on ongoing medications or prevention products, we can often handle refills during the wellness visit. Let us know when you check in so we can make sure to address it.

Do you see both dogs and cats?

Yes, all of our wellness services are available for both dogs and cats. Give us a call at (727) 390-0333 if you have questions about your specific pet before coming in.
