Illness and sick visits

Your pet is not feeling right.
We can see them today.

Not every sick pet needs an emergency room. CentralPet Express Care provides same-day evaluation, diagnostics, and treatment for dogs and cats — no appointment needed, no emergency room price tag.

Dogs and cats welcome

Not an emergency, but can not wait until next week.

This is exactly what we are built for. When your pet is clearly off — vomiting, lethargic, uncomfortable — but not in a life-threatening crisis, the traditional vet is booked and the emergency room feels like overkill. We are the answer in between.

Walk in during our open hours or save your spot online. Our team will evaluate your pet the same day, run any necessary diagnostics on-site, and get treatment started before you leave.

What to expect

Your pet's sick visit, start to finish

  • Check in at the front desk or save your spot online
  • Full physical exam by our veterinary team
  • In-house diagnostics if needed — bloodwork, urinalysis, imaging
  • Clear explanation of findings and options
  • Treatment and prescriptions started same day
  • Follow-up guidance before you leave

Common conditions we see every day.

If your pet has any of these signs and your regular vet cannot see them today, bring them in. We handle a wide range of non-life-threatening conditions with same-day evaluation and treatment.

Vomiting and digestive upset

Vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, bloating

Diet changes, infections, and gastrointestinal issues are among the most common reasons pets visit us. We evaluate, manage dehydration, and treat the cause — not just the symptom.

Respiratory symptoms

Coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, wheezing

Kennel cough, upper respiratory infections, and allergies all present this way. We evaluate breathing concerns quickly and provide treatment to ease symptoms and prevent complications.

Urinary problems

Straining to urinate, accidents, blood in urine

UTIs and bladder issues are painful and can escalate quickly, especially in cats. Prompt treatment prevents serious complications like urinary blockages.

Lethargy and behavior changes

Sudden tiredness, weakness, unusual behavior

When your pet is just not themselves, it is worth having it checked. These can be early signs of infection, pain, or systemic illness that needs attention before it gets worse.

Limping and mobility issues

Limping, reluctance to move, joint swelling

Sprains, strains, and minor injuries happen. We evaluate the severity, provide pain relief, and advise on next steps — without the emergency room wait or cost.

Minor wounds and skin issues

Cuts, bites, hot spots, rashes, swelling

Wounds that need cleaning and closure, infected skin folds, or sudden swelling are all things we handle in-house on the same visit. See our Eyes, Ears and Skin page for more.

Eye and ear concerns

Redness, discharge, pawing at face, head shaking

Eye infections, ear infections, and irritation are uncomfortable for pets and easy for us to treat when caught early. Same-day evaluation and treatment available.

Fever and suspected infection

Warm to the touch, shivering, loss of appetite

A fever in a pet is always a reason to be seen. We identify the source, run any needed diagnostics, and start treatment the same day.

Not for life-threatening emergencies. If your pet is experiencing severe trauma, difficulty breathing, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, or seizures, please go directly to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital. We are built for urgent but non-critical care.

Sick visit FAQs.

Answers to the questions we hear most from worried pet owners.

How quickly can you see my sick pet?

We see patients the same day — no appointment required. We strongly recommend saving your spot online through WaitWell before you arrive so you can see your place in the queue and minimize your wait. Patients are triaged by urgency, so pets that are more critical are seen first.

Do you have diagnostics on-site?

Yes. We have in-house laboratory equipment for bloodwork, urinalysis, and other diagnostics. This means we can often get results and start treatment during the same visit rather than sending samples out and waiting days for results.

Is a sick visit more expensive than a regular vet?

Our pricing is transparent and significantly more affordable than an emergency hospital for non-critical conditions. You pay for the exam and any diagnostics or treatments performed. We always discuss findings and costs with you before proceeding with anything additional.

What if my pet needs to stay for observation?

If your pet needs more time with us during the visit, we can accommodate that. Our drop-off service also works well for sick visits — you can leave your pet with us for the duration of our business hours, go about your day, and we will call you with updates and to let you know when they are ready for pickup.

Can I call ahead before coming in?

Yes. If you are not sure whether your pet needs to be seen urgently, give us a call at (727) 390-0333 and our team can help you decide. For non-emergency situations, saving your spot online and coming in is the fastest way to get care started.
